Here is a robot kit that you can build and customize with 3D printed fingers to take on a variety of tasks. The WidowXL Robot Arm comes with ROBOTIS Dynamixel MX-106, MX-64, MX-28, and AX-12 servos, Arbotix Robocontroller, and open source gripper.

You get aircraft aluminum, 3/16″ Plexiglas, and 3D printed PLA components to get started. The controller has a ATMega644p microprocessor with 8 analog/digital IOs. It is Arduino IDE compatible.
