Wall climbing robots and drones are nothing new. We have covered a bunch of them in the past. KAIST Urban Robotics Lab has shared a video that shows a new wall-climbing drone capable of soft landing using a tilt-rotor mechanism.

The drone platform is based on an X-configuration quadcopter. It can perch on a wall with low angular speed of pose change to reduce the landing impact on the drone. The tilt mechanism enables the drone to stick to the wall by changing the direction of its thrusters.
