Here is another self-driving system that can help boost harvest by tonnes each year. Volvo Trucks’s self-steering sugar-cane harvest truck moves with great precision to avoid damaging young plants. The driver assistance system keeps the truck on the right course and away from the harvester. The truck follows a coordinated-based map across the sugar-cane field.
According to Volvo, two gyroscopes are used to prevent the truck from veering off course. This can boost sugar-cane harvests by up to 10 tonnes per hectare.
