We have had the opportunity to cover DARPA’s advanced bionic arm, LUKE, a number of times in the past. Its powered shoulder allows user to reach overhead or behind their back. The hand has 4 motors and a soft grip for handling delicate items.
The arm can be controlled using EMG electrodes and foot-mounted inertial measurement sensors. This modular, battery powered arm is now being given to two veterans with amputated arms. The prosthetic Luke arm system has a variety of grips.
DARPA has shared more info on this bionic arm here.
