There are plenty of smart quadrupedal robots that use smart sensors and vision to navigate unstructured areas. The GR Vision 60 is a foldable all-terrain robot that can adapt to rough terrains and traverse obstacles. This video shows it in blind-mode managing unstructured terrain without vision or force sensors in its legs.
Only high-transparency actuators and 2kHz algorithmic stability control were used to pull this off.
