Self balancing robots are nothing new. We have covered many of them in the past. Most of them have two legs though. The TTI Hopper is a clever one-legged robot that can keep its balance on unsteady or sloping surfaces. It uses simple motors and gears enhanced by an algorithm.
TTI Hopper has joints that adapt when shocks need to be absorbed or the robot has to right itself.
