Robots handling fragile objects is much more challenging than it looks. Plenty of researchers are working on ways to perfect this. This video from SEAS researchers have developed a soft, robotic gripper that uses tentacles to handle objects like a jellyfish.
As they explain:
Alone, individual tentacles, or filaments, are weak. But together, the collection of filaments can grasp and securely hold heavy and oddly shaped objects.
