Robots are great for teaching electronics and coding. There are already plenty of kits that can get student started faster. The Stewy is an open source robot with a moving top plate and 6 degrees of freedom. It can use its arms to lift the base for walking around. You get a simple web based interface to move the top platform or get this robot to start moving.
The kit comes with everything you need to build Stewy. You also get 2 extra motors and hardware to replace the arm assembly. This project is getting funded on Kickstarter. You can find out more about it here.
