Remember project EUROPA2? European Robotic Pedestrian Assistant 2.0 is all about developing service robots that can autonomously navigate in urban environments to guide people and deliver things. These robots will use public maps and the data from their sensors to detect/track moving objects and adapt to their environment.
This video shows an interaction-aware motion planning system for the robot. It adds dynamic and static obstacle avoidance. The local motion planner takes into account interactions with other participants and reduces over-conservative behavior. More info is available here.
