Researchers Build Robots That Go from Soft to Rigid

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of cool soft robots. Wyss Institute researchers have built robots with a multi-layered structure that can go from soft to rigid. The structure consists of flexible material wrapped in a plastic envelope and connected to a vacuum. When the vacuum is on, the structure becomes stiff and can hold its shape.
