Robotic surgeons are nothing new. In fact, there are already a bunch of robot surgery systems available on the market that facilitate minimally invasive surgeries. This video from KUKA shows how the LBR iiwa can be combined with VR feedback for remote surgery.
The LBR iiwa robot has force torque sensors on its seven axes. When combined with real-time feedback in VR, the entire operating room can be simulated for remote surgery. Looks pretty promising, don’t you think?
