In the past few years, we have covered plenty of nature inspired robots here. The RobOstrich Manipulator is modeled after the anatomy and movement of an ostrich neck. It uses a system of artificial muscles and tendons to mimic the moment of an ostrich. This video from researchers at the University of Japan shows what this robot is capable of.
To make this, 17 vertebrae were 3D printed and connected with bearings. Piano wires were used as muscles between vertebrae while rubber bands were used as ligaments at the base.
