Robots are going to play more important roles in space flight in the future. Take the RH5 Manus Robot: a humanoid robot developed at the Robotics Innovation Center of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence that can be used in human environments, such as a future moon station. The aim is to use it to perform assembly work autonomously.
This robot has 2 x 4-finger grippers. It has a wide variety of sensors, including 2 x Zed Mini stereo camera for object detection, a Xsens MTi-300 AHRS IMU, 6-DOF force torque sensors, and a Velodyne LiDAR VLP-16 Puck for mapping and self-localization.
