Programmable Robotic Cubes That Selectively Self-Assemble

😎 New DIY robot kits

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of interesting self assembling robots here. MIT researchers have now come up with a method of magnetically programming materials for a more scalable self-assembling robots.

The cubes are covered with soft magnetic material for building magnetic signatures on each surface, so they are picky about who they connect with. The above video shows how this concept works.
