In the past few years, we have covered plenty of robot dogs that can take on inspection tasks. These robots can also be programmed to manipulate things with their legs without relying on a dedicated robot arm. Researchers managed to pull it off by training a reinforcement learning policy that tracks position targets for one foot. As this video shows, the robot can open doors, push obstacles and perform other tasks with its leg.
