In many cases, robot operators use one robot to teach others new skills and control them. This video from NEXT Robotics explores a multi-robot coordination system with active collision avoidance. Actin Robotic Software from Energid technologies was used for this project.
As you can see, one robot can be used to control the other arm. Master/slave roles can be switched fast. These robotic arms can actively track and avoid obstacles.
