In the past few years, we have covered plenty of robots inspired by nature. The Mole-bot is a directional drilling robot that simulates the mole’s biological structure and behavior for exploration. A localization algorithm is used to estimate the robot’s position and orientation under ground.
The mole-bot has a front body with an excavation mechanism while its rear part handles locomotion and locking. The two parts are connected by 4 linear actuators and universal joint. The above video shows the Mole-bot in action.
