The environments soldiers operate in are not flat or even and have many obstacles. Any quadruped designed to help them needs to be able to overcome rough terrain. LLAMA is a quadruped robot that can adjust its steps while walking, resulting in reactive strategies to prevent falling and losing balance.
This approach enables the robot to walk on bumpy grass and sidewalk curbs. The above video shows how this robot utilizes different gaits to overcome obstacles.
