Soft grippers enable robots to grab and handle fragile items. With jamming effect, they rely on varied stiffness to hold the objects tightly. Jooyoung Hong, Dhruv C Mathur, and Joohyung Kim have come up with a lip inspired jamming gripper inspired by animals’ oral structure.
This gripper:
focuses on the functions of holding and re-grasping. The lip-pouch is fabricated including granular particles inside for passive particle jamming.
