3D Printed Gripper That Needs No Electronics to Work

0

Here is a soft robotic gripper that doesn’t require electronics to work. Roboticists at the University of California San Diego collaborated with BASF corporation researchers to make this robotic gripper. Here is how it works:

We designed functions so that a series of valves would allow the gripper to both grip on contact and release at the right time. It’s the first time such a gripper can both grip and release. All you have to do is turn the gripper horizontally. This triggers a change in the airflow in the valves, making the two fingers of the gripper release

Here is a tiny camera designed to be mounted to your drone. The RunCam Thumb Pro 4K has a 150-degree field of view. It also weighs 16g, which makes it ideal for quadcopters. It has gyroflow stabilization for silky smooth video.

Opening Doors with Drones

0

Drones can do a lot of things for us already. They can be used for all kinds of inspection tasks. Opening doors can be challenging for them. This video from Autonomous Systems Laboratory, ETH Zurich, shows what it takes to open doors with aerial vehicles. It is an omnidirectional micro aerial vehicle that can perform a door opening task with a policy that is trained in a physics simulator. The drone can also close doors.
