Star 8 Electric Manned Aerial Vehicle
A bunch of companies are working on perfecting flying cars and manned drones. This video from Flying Kyxz shows a new flying sports car powered by Star 8 Green technology. It can lift a human off the ground and move them in the air smoothly and safely. It has vertical takeoff and landing capability.
MIT’s Mini Cheetah Robots Can Play Soccer Together
MIT’s robot are quite amazing. We have covered many of them in the past. In their latest video, MIT engineers show how mini cheetah robots can fall, flip, and play soccer together. These robots jump and act like a bunch of cute animals.
Using Robots for Assembly of Modular Satellites In Space
Robots are going to do many things for us in the future in space, including building things. DLRRMC has shared a video that shows dexterous tasks can be completed by robots with a teleoperation system with haptic force feedback.
This Robotic Arm Slows Down for Humans
Robotic arms can move at high speeds. They can be quite unnerving for humans though. Disney Researchers have discovered that slowing robots down can make them feel more normal to humans. As they explain:
The system has the appearance of a robot character, with a bear-like head and a soft anthropomorphic hand and uses Bezier curves to achieve smooth minimum-jerk motions. Fast timing is enabled by low latency motion capture and real-time trajectory generation: the robot initially moves towards an expected handover location and the trajectory is updated on-the-fly to converge smoothly to the actual handover location.
The above video shows this robot in action. As the system shows, humans like human-level timing from robots. More info is available here.
Sillbird Building Blocks Robot for Kids
Here is another kit designed to teach your kids about coding and technology. The Sillbird Building Blocks Robot comes with an app that lets you remote control and program it. The head, shoulders, arms, elbows, tracks, and eyebrows can all be rotated.
Seaglider Autonomous Underwater Vehicle
Meet the Seaglider: an autonomous underwater vehicle designed to capture data under water. It uses small changes in buoyancy and wings to achieve forward motion. It doesn’t consume a whole lot of power and has endurance of up to 10 months. These underwater robots are available in 3 versions with max depth of 6000m.
SwitchBot Curtain: Robot That Automates Your Curtains
So you would like your curtains to open and close depending on time of the day? The SwitchBot Curtain can help. It is a curtain automation system with a built-in light sensor to detect sunlight. It can be set to automatically close on hot summer days and open early on winter days.
