Salto-1P Robot Leaps & Lands Like a Gymnast

0

Remember Salto? It is a robot that can bounce like a pogo stick and jump over obstacles. This video shows how the Salto-1P can hop on furniture. It has a new balancing algorithm to jump to a narrow target and stick the landing like a gymnast.

Robots with Granular Boots Move 40% Faster on Uneven Terrain

0

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of robots that can negotiate rough, uneven terrain. Roboticists at the University of California San Diego have developed flexible feet that enable robots to walk up to 40% faster on uneven terrain. The feet are made from coffee grounds in a latex membrane.

WOXIAOBAI Autonomous Street Cleaning Robot

0

In the past few years, we have covered how smart LiDAR modules can be used to enhance robots. The WOXIAOBAI is an autonomous street sweeper with Puck sensors for security and perception.

ROVéo UVC Disinfection Robot

0

UVC technology is used at hospitals and work environments for sanitization. The ROVéo UVC is a disinfection robot that can be used at industrial work areas. The robot is capable of focusing its UV beam on areas that need to be sanitized. It adjust the height and tilts its reflectors towards the areas to target.

Erica Female Robot – Research Platform

0

Meet Erica: a female robot designed as a research platform to study human-robot interaction. She understands natural language and uses synthesized human voice to interact. It also displays a wide variety of facial expressions.

Vision 60 Robot Dog with Shifting Payload

0

Plenty of robots are capable of moving heavy items. Things are a big more complicated when you are dealing with shifting and rolling payloads. This video from Ghost Robotics shows the GR Vision 60 robot dog with an advanced control system to handle a a shifting 12lbs ball.

Octo-Bouncer Advanced Bouncing Robot

0

There is better way to learn about robots and coding than building and programming your own. The Octo-Bouncer is an advanced bouncing robot that uses smooth stepper motors and image processing to keep bouncing a ping pong ball. We first had a chance to cover it a few month ago. The machine now has a new custom ball detection algorithm, hit position prediction, and tilt control.

The Octo-Bouncer: Advanced Bouncing Patterns

For this project, a Teensy 4.0 Microcontroller, 4x StepperOnline DM442S stepper motor drivers, 4x Nema 17 Stepper Motor, an e-con Systems See3CAM_CU135 camera, and a 48V 8A battery were used. You can find out more about this project on Electron Dust’s channel.

Robot Teddy Bear Learning to Hug

0

Teaching robots how to hug a person properly is easier said than done. This video from ASU Interactive Robotics shows how a robot teddy bear used an improved Bayesian Interaction Primitives (BIP) approach to learn how to huge a person. It can learn to adapt to different people.

Youbionic Feedback for 3D Printed Robotic Hands

0

Remember the Youbionic Robotic Hand? It is a 3D printed robot hand that can be controlled with Arduino. Youbionic Feedback lets you do more with them. You will be able to feel when the robotic hand touches an object, making teleoperation a whole lot easier.

Galileo G-Balaam-1500KG AGV Robot

0

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of autonomous guided vehicles that can take on various warehousing tasks. The Galileo G-Balaam-1500KG AGV Robot is also worth a look. It is capable of dragging a ton of load with no problem. The below video shows it in action:
