ARTER Autonomous Rough Terrain Excavator Robot

0

Meet the ARTER: an autonomous excavator robot with a Deutz T-Diesel 115 kW engine, several sensors, and WiFi connectivity that can take on rough terrain excavation tasks. It has a max speed of 13 km/h. It has an indoor navigation system and a thermal camera to provide data for mapping and localization. The below video shows how it can work with Sherpa on a barrel excavation task.

Open5x: Affordable 5-axis 3D Printing

0

3D printers have come a long way over the years. Traditional models still have some limitations, including models with visible layers and uneven structural strength. These can be overcome by using robotic arms and multi-axis CNCs for conformal deposition. The cost for this approach can be high though. Freddie Hong, Steve Hodges, Connor Myant, and David Boyle have come up with an affordable way to upgrade 3D printers into 5-axis.

Prusa i3 MK3s was chosen for this project. The above video shows how it works.

Teledyne FLIR FirstLook Throwable Unmanned Robot

0

Meet the Teledyne FLIR FirstLook: a throwable rugged robot that can be used for situational awareness and investigating dangerous missions. It provides operators with visual, audio, and sensor feedback. This robot weighs 6.6lbs and can survive drops up to 16 ft. It can climb obstacles up to 7 inches.

Marsupial Walking-and-Flying Robotic System for Exploration

0

Here is a marsupial robotic system that relies on a legged robot and drone for collaborative exploration and mapping. It can overcome rough terrain and uses its drone to overcome areas not possible by any legged robot. The flying robot has 3D navigation capabilities. These two robots can localize and map together by sharing LiDAR maps and exploration paths.

RM24-SMRT App Enabled Features

Mowing the lawn is not everyone’s cup of tea. The good news is you can now rely on robots to get it done. Take the Mowro RM24SMRT Lawnmower Robot for instance: it is a WiFi connected electric mower with 9.5 inch cutting width. Its companion app lets you put the the robot on a schedule, keep up with errors, and monitor battery level.

Moveable mHand Adapt: Adaptive Bionic Hand

0

Meet the Moveable mHand Adapt: an adaptive prosthetic hand that can handle a wide variety of objects during cooking, gardening, and other activities. It operates without cables and motors. The hand closes when pushing against an object while the fingers automatically adapt to the shape of the object.

FingerPrint: Fully 3D Printed Fingertip Haptic Device

0

Here is a fully 3D printed fingertip haptic device made based on an origami mechanism that uses multiple foldable vacuum actuators and fluidic channels. FingerPrint features:

4-DoF of motion on the finger pad with tunable haptic forces (up to 1.3 N lateral and 7 N normal) and torque (up to 25 N-mm) for skin shear, pressure, and vibro-tactile feedback.
