Robot lawn mowers are getting smarter all the time. Take the TREX 44: a robotic slope mower that uses deep learning neural networks and RTK-GPS to perceive its surroundings and cut grass efficiently.

Pixie Obstacle Avoiding Robot Mouse for Cats

0

Here is a cute robot mouse with obstacle avoidance that moves around to keep your kitties active. The Pixie from PetLibro has two smooth wheels and works well on tiles, wood, marble, and other hard surfaces. It has a rechargeable battery and lasts up to 160 minutes. It rests every 10 minutes, so your kitties won’t be overstimulated.

Industrial Robot Taught Make S’mores

0

We have seen industrial robots used for all kinds of fun projects. This video shows how a Fanuc S-420 i W industrial robot was taught to make its own S’Mores. This robot can open the microwave oven door, put the ingredients inside, and work the machine.

Here is a soft robotic actuator that can be scaled down to 1cm. Researchers at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia’s Bioinspired Soft Robotics Laboratory are behind this pleat-based soft robotic actuator. GeometRy-based Actuators can contract and elongate and can be used to achieve a wide range of lifelike movements due to their flexibility.

UW’s 3D Printed Passive Grippers Help Robots Pick Up More Things

0

Robots are going to do many things for us. To pick up objects of varying sizes and shapes, they are going to need versatile grippers. A University of Washington team have created custom 3D printed grippers to enable machines to pick up more things. Their system can design a 3D printable passive gripper and calculate the best path to pick up an object. The below video shows what this project was all about:
