Sawyer Cobot with SoftGripper for Food Handling

0

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of grippers can be used for food handling. They can be used with many top industrial robots. Take Sawyer for instance: it is a cobot with digital inputs and 8 digital outputs that can be used to control conveyor belts and other devices. With a SoftGripper, this 7-axis robot can handle food products.

Application Spotlight: Food handling with cobots

As the above video shows, Sawyer uses a 2D camera in its arm to locate objects and pick them up. It can move fragile items without causing any damage.

Here is another WiFi connected robot that cleans your pool, so you don’t have to. The Dolphin Explorer E70 can handle pools up to 50 ft. It can be controlled at the touch of a button from the MyDolphin Plus mobile app. It has 3 cleaning modes for you to choose from. You can use the companion app to manually drive it to a specific spot.

Pneumatic Robotic Third Arm Powered by Walking

Walking feeds pressure to pneumatic robots that could help those with disabilities

The idea of building a robotic third arm is nothing new. We have seen plenty of attempts at that. Mechanical engineers at Rice University’s George R. Brown School of Engineering have built a handy extra limb that can grasp objects. It is powered by compressed air. As the researchers explain:

The system requires two components: textile pumps embedded in the soles of walking shoes that harvest air pressure and pneumatic actuators that make use of that pressure where needed.

The pumps have open-cell polyurethane foam to recover their shape after every step.

Sphere Rolling Joint Robot Arm by Skyentific

0

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of interesting robot arms here. This Sphere Rolling Joint Robot Arm by Skyentific is also worth a look. It has a unique design that enables it to make moves not possible with traditional robot arms. This robot has 4 degrees of freedom. As the maker explains, this approach allows for backlash compensation, better cable management, and parallel configuration.

AeroVironment’s Mantis i23 D Multi-Sensor Imaging Payload

0

Meet the Mantis i23 D payload from AeroVironment: a daytime imaging payload system for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. The Mantis i23 is compatible with Raven B drones. Mantis i23 D weighs only 13.4 ounces. It has 18MP electro-optical sensors and 24X digital zoom.

This payload has an advanced array of sensors, onboard processing and digital image stabilization. It can be used in temperatures -29 to 50C. It is water resistant. You can find out more about it here.

This Untrained Robot Dog Learned to Walk in 20 Minutes

0

In the future, robots will learn to do all kinds of tasks without any teaching or programming required. Take this robot dog for instance: it learned to walk in the park in 20 minutes with model-free reinforcement learning. It was completely untrained but learns to walk and overcome challenges as they arise. It can walk on various terrains.

Draganfly Commander 3XL High Endurance Drone

So you would like to build your own autonomous mobile robot? The Rosbot Pro Pi has you covered. It is ROS ready and comes bundled with a LiDAR and depth camera. It has max payload capacity of 22 to 45kg. This robot is based on the Raspberry Pi 4. It has 254mm rubber wheels and a battery that lasts up to 4 hours with no load.

This robot comes with Ubuntu, ROS1 and STM32 driver onboard. It can be controlled with iOS and Android devices. You can find out more about it on Robot Shop.

Ameca with ARKit for Facial Motion Capture

0

Remember Ameca? It is a humanoid robot AI platform designed for interaction with humans. It has a modular, upgradable design and can be used for testing AI. The hardware is based on Mesmer technology. This video shows how an iPhone with ARKit can be used for facial motion capture that is mapped in real-time to an Ameca robot.
