Robby Mini Robot Teaches Kids 6+ Coding

0

This is Robby: a mini STEM robot designed to teach kids ages 6+ coding. It comes with an Arduino based microcontroller, 3 servo motors, and an expansion board. It has a simple design and inspires kids to come up with their own designs.

This robot is Arduino IDE compatible, so kids can change its code and write their own. You can find out more about it here.

SHERP Off-road Vehicle Teleoperated

Soft Actuator Using Bubbles by Researchers at NC State

0

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of clever soft actuators. This one shared by Michael Dickey on YouTube shows a soft actuator using bubbles. Here is how it works:

the gas is created by electrochemical reactions that are controlled by electrochemistry. Rather than rubber, the chamber is made of hydrogel, which is a polymer network swollen with water. The water is the reactant that converts to gas. The resulting bubbles inflate the chamber within the hydrogel.

Electrochemical Bubble Actuator

This approach can potentially used to make soft actuators that can operate underwater.
