AI bots are getting smarter all the time. They are capable of beating us in Chess, Go, and many other fields. Can an AI drone pilot outperform a human in a race? JPL Engineers tried just that. Their AI drone uses 2 cameras to track its position and matches it to a pre-loaded map.
An obstacle course in a JPL warehouse was used to try it. Ken Loo, a top drone pilot, was tasked to challenge the AI drone. The machine averaged 13.9 seconds per lap as opposed to Loo’s drone which averaged 11.1 seconds per lab. Still very impressive if you ask us.
