Robots are going to do most of planetary exploration for us for the foreseeable future. Plenty of researchers are working to perfect lunar and mars robots. Heimdall happens to be a rover with a split body design with wheel legs and a drill for sub-surface sample collection. It can collect samples and manipulate various objects.
