In the past few years, we have covered a whole host of robots inspired by nature. This happens to be a springtail inspired walking/jumping robot that can jump 1.4 meters, which is 23 times its length. It weighs only 2.2 grams. It was used with a quadrupedal microrobot with leg articulation.
The researchers tested multiple directional takeoffs and upright landings with this approach. This approach can be used to overcome gaps and obstacles. More information is available here.
