GE’s Pipe Building Robot: PLUTO

This is the PLUTO: a highly dexterous pipe building robot from GE Research that can be deployed inside natural gas pipelines to inspect and form a new pipe inside existing pipes. This system can reduce pipeline rehabilitation costs while reducing carbon emissions.

This robot has a spray head that carries an epoxy material to form a new pipe inside the old pipe. It is capable of repairing 1600ft of pipeline in a single trench.
