This is hibot’s Float Arm: a long robot arm ready for inspection and maintenance. It has snake-motion control and self-balancing function to navigate in complex environments to gather data. It may be long but weighs only 35kg. It can be used with up to 9 links and equipped with a wide variety of sensors, including a HD/thermal camera, LiDAR, TOF camera, and UT probe.
What can you do with something like this? You can inspect inside pressure vessels and storage tanks. It is also possible to inspect high places. The above video shows you how this works.
