There are plenty of robotic hands that can pick up, place, and manipulate things. By adding tactile sensors, it is possible to make robots smart enough to know when they lose an object or when it is starting to slip. Researchers at Cluster of Excellence CITEC are working on such project.

Robotic hands with tactile sensors receive force profiles during interaction and have the data analyzed to realize the status of each object. A tactical data glove is used to allow researchers to learn from human interactions with objects.
