Drone with Thermal Camera To Spot Fawns

😎 New DIY robot kits

Nobody wants to see poor animals get hurt or killed in the fields. Unfortunately, fawns lie down in the tall grass instead of running away when they hear the tractors coming. An EPFL student has come up with an innovative way to address that. By using a drone with a thermal camera, it is possible to spot fawns before the harvester passes through.

The drone scans the field following a set course, covering every inch of land. Tiny yellow dots on the screen show where the fawns are. The animals then have to be moved without any direct physical contact.
