The idea of drones capturing other drones with a net is nothing new. Researchers at the Biomimetics and Dexterous Manipulation Lab at Stanford University have come up with a clever approach to grab aerial targets with a gripper. It has a lightweight design 23g and closes within 12ms to make the capture.
As this video shows, a 550g drone can capture a 85g target at velocities between 1m/s to 2.7 m/s.
