Self driving cars are getting improved every year. Thanks to Draper’s all-weather LiDAR system, they will be able to see in the rain, snow, and fog. Cars that rely on optical imaging tech to distinguish between objects can encounter problems on misty roads. With Draper’s all weather LiDAR can see objects 54 meters away in fog.
Hemera is designed to work with most existing platforms. As the company explains:
LiDAR needs to record not just the first thing it hits, but subsequent things, so that it can reconstruct a whole field of vision accurately. Our system can detect and analyze the entire range of signals, which is something most LiDARs can’t do right now.
