Many of us enjoy flying our drone on a regular basis. Have you ever wondered what happens if your drone gets hit by lightning? Researchers at University of Manchester’s High Voltage Laboratory have put the idea to the test. They have hit a DJI Phantom 3 drone with an electrical impulse of 1.4 million volts.
As you may guessed, not every drone is designed to survive such a hit. The battery was protected due to its metal casing but the internal electronics were fried. So the lesson is don’t try this on your main drone.
