Researchers at University of Manchester’s High Voltage Laboratory have put the idea to the test. They have hit a DJI Phantom 3 drone with an electrical impulse of 1.4 million volts.

As you may guessed, not every drone is designed to survive such a hit. The battery was protected due to its metal casing but the internal electronics were fried. So the lesson is don’t try this on your main drone.
