Teaching cars to drive themselves autonomously is easier said than done. It’s nice to see many companies and researchers working on improving self-driving vehicles. This experiment conducted at INRA/France involves using Visible Light Communication and a Laser Range Finder to drive a vehicle autonomously.

Acceleration, GPS data, and steering is handled via VLC. The LRF has a range of 100 meters and angular resolution of of 0.25 degrees. The communication range is 15 meters. As you can see in this video, the follower vehicle adapts orientation and speed of the leading car.
