Robots are going to do our planetary exploration missions for us in the future. Plenty of researchers and companies are working on perfecting them. These robots will need to learn how to work together to take on complex tasks. This video from DLR RM shows the Arches crater exploration project which involved 2 tethered rovers working together to safely explore a crater with loose volcanic soil.
