Many robots we cover are inspired by nature. Most of them modeled after animals and insects that are not extinct. Carnegie Mello University researchers have come up with a soft robotic replica of pleurocystitids, which is a marine organism that existed nearly 450m years ago.

The team used fossil evidence to come up with the design. This robot has 3D printed components and polymers to mimic the flexible structure of the moving appendage. The above video has more info on this robot.
