In the future, robots will do our laundry. Plenty of companies are working on perfecting them. Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute researchers have come up with an an approach that enables robots to feel cloth layers. A tactile sensor was used to detect pinching 0 to 3 layers of clothes. A classifier was trained on this data set and use it to adjust grasping height.
