Here is a hybrid hydrostatic transmission and haptic telepresence robot that can handle delicate objects. According to Disney Research, the humanoid robot has two 4 DOF arms connected via the hydrostatic transmission to an identical master. It also has stereo cameras that stream live video to the operator’s head-mounted display. The operator feels interaction forces between the robot and its environment.
