In the past few years, we have covered plenty of 4 legged robots that can perform a wide variety of tasks outdoors. A team led by the University of California San Diego has come up with a set of algorithms that enable 4-legged robots to walk and run on challenging terrain. It enables robots to avoid static and moving obstacles.
The above video shows an obstacle avoiding robot dog in action. The algorithms use the robot’s vision with its proprioception. Data from its camera and other sensors are used to pull this off.
